Backlink Building

The links in the post below may be affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. Read the full disclosure.

Getting legitimate and genuine backlinks can help your site rank higher. Probably the BEST way to get good backlinks is to write fantastic content that other sites just naturally link back to.

Otherwise, you may consider some of the following options for adding to your backlinks. Of course, the backlinks that matter will be the ones you get that are from sites with domain authority greater than yours and where you get the benefit of a “follow” link (thus ‘link juice’).

Good Backlinks

Some ways to get potentially meaningful backlinks are to use the following mediums:

  • Guest Posting
  • YouTube
  • SlideShare
  • Udemy
  • Quora
  • Medium

Depending on how algorithm updates go and such, some of them may or may not qualify for link juice. For instance, people used to go and comment on blogs and include their website URL in order to get more backlinks. Those used to help rankings in a magnified manner.

Do Comments Matter?

Check out this intriguing “Do High DA Backlinks From Blog Comments Help Rankings?” article by the master Neil Patel. Sometimes I wonder why am I sharing anything when he is such a wiz, just go there. haha

Read the awesome article and the results of his tests. Also, key is to actually contribute when you make comments – add to the discussion, don’t just be there for this alone and be spammy.

If you want to try to go for some comment SEO juice, he gives what to search Google for to find the sites with this enabled.

I’m not sure where this falls on the white hat vs black hat SEO scale. It seems like gaming the system to me, so I’m gonna let it be but interesting nonetheless!

Bad Backlinks?

If you discover you’re getting traffic from some link that is a spammy or invalid resource (not legitimate traffic), you can disavow it.
